Part #s -55X1 -55X1CN -55X1&2 -55X1&2CN
We are proud to bring to market our pro tree billet trans brake valve body for the Chrysler Torque Flight transmissions 727 & 904. We at CRT feel it will perform to your needs and we also feel it will out perform the competition in our service, parts availability, technical assistance. At any time you can call me at 219-374-0100.
1. We at CRT highly recommend a low reverse billet servo kit with each of the four valve bodies we offer. All have the low band apply and the low reverse billet servo kit will insure a clean 1-2 shift. Valve bodies -55X1&2 we recommend our Dual ring billet 2ns gear front servo. And always use a Daycron filter. Never a brass filter.
2. Bleed hole. Drill a 1/16” bleed off hole in the front drum, block off vent in pump and relocate the vent to the rear of the case. OR drill bleed off hole in the front drum piston and leave the stock vent alone. Note: when relocating the vent to the rear of the case, it will burb, a catch can with a hose will be needed.
3. 727 Install 15 springs in the front drum.
904 Multi-spring pack is recommended.
4. Set front clutch pack to .085 – .095 ( .090 being the sweet spot )
5. set rear clutch pack to .030-.040 ( .030 being the sweet spot )
5. Set front band at 72 in-lbs back off 2 & 1/4 turns,
6. 727 rear band at 72 in-lbs back off 2 turns.
904-A500-58re rear band at 72 in-lbs back off 3 & 1/4 turns.
7. Mill 3rd gear passage in stator support .200 down see photo
8. To install trans brake case connector: Drill and tap a hole near the rear of the case on the
drivers side, use a 5/16 drill bit then tap with a 3/8 x 16 tap. Install case connector into case see photo.
9. Use a blocker rod no longer than 2.900 with the stock accumulator discard accumulator spring. Remove the stock sealing rings from the accumulator and install D ring seals on accumulator. MAKE SURE ACCUMULATOR DOES NOT PREVENT VALVE BODY FROM BOLTING ALL THE WAY FLUSH TO THE TRANSMISSION CASE.
Note: some brand aftermarket valve body manufacturers may have you remove the accumulator piston completely, if accumulator is not installed with your CRT valve body, you will have no 2nd gear.
9. Install valve body to case making sure you do not pinch the trans brake wire. Attach wire to case connector. Torque bolts to 70 inch lbs. Install filter & filter extension making sure you do not pinch the trans brake wires, the filter will touch the trans brake solenoid, not to worry, just make sure it does not touch the moving part of the solenoid.
10. We like to use a Dextron style fluid or B&M Trick Shift, You can use a Type F. No synthetics.
11. You must make sure the shifter adjustment is dead balls on. The Transmission will not work correct if the adjustment is off.
12. Driving. The shift pattern is PNN123 or if you have a clean neutral the pattern is PN123N you MUST use the trans brake button to back the car up in reverse in the 1st neutral.
13. Water Box burn out are to be done in 2nd gear then shift to 3rd, No 1st gear burn outs.
14. NEVER down shift from 3rd to Neutral with out having the clean neutral option.
15. 1st & 2nd gear launch we highly recommend a trans brake interrupter.
16. USE DEEP ALUMINUM OIL PAN THAT WILL NOT COME IN CONTACT WITH THE TRANS BRAKE SOLENOID. STEEL PANS MAY BEND AND TOUCH THE SOLENOID.
